Progress

July 21st, 2009

Not much has happened since my last post that could be considered interesting. I caught another cold last week, then went to the dentist on Friday. The dental appointment went okay… no problems.

I did get a reasonable amount of writing done during this time. I’ve been trying to set aside a minimum of one hour a day for the purpose of writing. I’m focusing my efforts on the vampire story. I still have to sort out some of the scenes from the screenplay, as some don’t seem to be in the right position in the story now that I’m writing it in much greater detail. But progress is progress. :whistling:

A Beautiful Mind

April 11th, 2009

I finally made some progress on the vampire story. I had been trying for about 4 months to get a key element to fit into a scene early on in the story, which after writing almost 100 pages, is not an easy thing to do. So that had been killing my inspiration to write, and along with brain fog. I hadn’t made any progress at all until now. I’m really glad I was able to get this done. Now I can focus on the rest of the story. I will still have to rewrite a few parts a bit to follow theses changes, but that shouldn’t be too bad.

I watched A Beautiful Mind this morning after finishing up my writing. Very interesting movie. It shows how even the most brilliant of minds can be overtaken by mental illness.

I guess I should consider myself fortunate to only have Bipolar Disorder and not something like the paranoid Schizophrenia portrayed in the film, or the severe obsessive-compulsive disorder that was portrayed in The Aviator. But it still hasn’t been fun for me, especially when my depression became a nightmare during 2006 and 2007. Things are much better now, but I still get depressed quite easily.

And of course, medication doesn’t always help as much as most people would think. Sometimes it doesn’t help at all… and that’s why I take vitamins instead.

It's Never Too Loud?

April 16th, 2008

Thinking that my finger was healed, I decided to try my hand at playing some of the new Danko Jones songs on guitar for the first time. That was an interesting experience. I picked up some of the parts of some songs pretty quickly, even playing along while listening to the album, but others not so much.
And now the finger seems to have some sort of inflammation/bruising near the part of the joint where it was cut. The skin has completely closed up and healed, so I don’t know what’s going on. It didn’t hurt at all while I was playing :o

I’ve also started writing another screenplay. This one is inspired by Olga, and it will be pretty interesting if I ever finish it.
I tend to start things with great enthusiasm, and then after working hard on them for a few days, I completely run out of steam. I have 6 or 7 other screenplays in the folder that had that happen to them.
I guess now I understand why some filmmakers have been using some very brief scripts, sometimes possibly as short as one page and just improvised the rest

It’s warming up now. Tomorrow should be the warmest day of the year (so far), but there are still a lot of mounds of snow all over the place. I guess the snow will only be completely gone in the beginning of May.

Western Screenplay

July 9th, 2007

I've started writing a Western screenplay. I had mentioned it a while back, but I never worked on it, because I don't like writing very much unless I'm feeling unusually creative. I've also got a few action screenplays in the works…
This Western is going to be unique, but I might end up using some of the ideas for another one. I'm not sure if everything would fit into just one.
I've abandoned using my screenplay PHP script in favor of Notepad. It's just working out better, since the script complicated things, especially when I wanted to cut & paste. It really slowed me down, and I don't need that. Plus with text files, I can make backups every time I make any major changes, by copying the folder and working in the new one, just like I do with song lyrics. Every month, I start out with the folders "1" (original) and "2" (working copy), then add more; "3", "4", etc. as needed.

It’s About Time

June 26th, 2007

I'll be going to my favorite music shop on Thursday afternoon, where I always buy my guitars.
It should be interesting to see what I'll end up bringing home. I haven't been there for almost two years, so I might have to make up for lost time… :whistling:

I now have 80 songs, and a huge lyrics file with assorted verses I came up with that don't really fit into any particular song, and that monster keeps growing.
