Battlefield Heroes

September 5th, 2009

Battlefield Heroes is now out. This is one game that I’d been waiting for to be released for some time now. It’s a war shooter, like Battlefield, Call of Duty, and so on, but it’s quite unique. There is some humor in it and some cartoon-like charm. Another interesting thing about it is that it’s free to play. I have only played it a little bit this afternoon — I played the tutorial, but my first impression is quite good. It looks like it will be a lot of fun to play.

August 3rd, 2008

Today is my birthday. I've made it through another wonderful year.

I actually wasn't feeling too well today, unfortunately.
I had some nausea and very bad insomnia, muscle pain, twitching/shaking in my legs, and weakness pretty much all over my body. And when I finally fell asleep, I had an attack of pain near the bottom of my spine at around 5AM that was really bad and lasted for about a half hour.
It's very likely that I have Fibromyalgia.
I've done a lot of research, and a couple of people I mentioned it to (who happen to be doctors) have agreed with me, so that's another condition added to my list.
I sometimes had wondered if I had Multiple Sclerosis, but that doesn't seem to be the case at this point, thankfully.

Now for the positives of the day. I actually received many "happy birthday" greetings online, much more than I've ever had. In fact, even total strangers contacted me. It was quite interesting.
I know what people say about Russian girls, but none of that has been true from my experience. Every one of them that I've met online has been very nice.

As for gifts, I received:

- Nintendo DS (got it early, as I posted)
- Mario Kart DS
- Need for Speed ProStreet DS
- The Fugitive DVD
- Hot Shots / Hot Shots: Part Deux DVD
And, as usual, some $$$. :whistling:

DS

May 23rd, 2008

My mother got me a Nintendo DS. I've known this would happen for a while, because of my amazing psychic powers. I even told her that's what she was going to get me for my birthday, so she decided to give it to me now, more than two months early.
It came with a free game, Touch the Dead, which is pretty good despite all the reviews criticizing the graphics. It's a Nintendo DS, not a high powered computer. The hardware can't really handle more than this… but that's the point; simple, cheap, low power consumption, and very portable.

While I was cooking my lunch, I spotted this:

An ant eating bird! It's called a Flicker, and it's a sort of really big woodpecker that likes to eat ants. Never seen one before, though. Must be because of the huge increase in infestations by ants we've been having recently. This bird is going to be useful… :whistling:

Prophecy

March 3rd, 2008

Just as I was starting to think about getting a Fender guitar…
Epiphone just launched a new line of guitars. These look pretty interesting.
I'd like to get the Les Paul Custom GX, but I'm also intrigued by the other guitars that feature Floyd Rose tremolos. Those would be fun to play with. I have to use a pedal to do dive bombs and such now, and there's a limit to how much control you have, so they're just basic ones. Having a Floyd Rose would be much better for that stuff, especially for playing Van Halen songs…

I guess I could get two Epiphones and the Fender… maybe. I'm obsessed

Oh, and I played a bit of Roller Coaster Tycoon this weekend. I managed not to kill or drown any of the park guests so far
It's a shame that will all the technology they have now, they can't make games as replay-able as RCT or Age of Empires.

Valentine’s Day

February 13th, 2008

Valentine's Day is tomorrow, and for the first time ever, I'm actually looking forward to it.
I've been working on a little project for my Valentine for the past week, and I know she'll like it. A poem I wrote, along with an amusing original masterpiece drawing should be good :whistling:

My creativity has been pretty good lately. I've been drawing a lot, and writing a lot of poems and song lyrics. Hopefully, I'll be able to work a bit on my screenplays as well.

Played some more Age of Empires with Ogre last night. We tried Death Match this time, since it would take less time, and when we were almost finished during our last game, the game just stopped :’(
I seem to recall this happening on occasion way back when, but I don't remember what the solution was… if there was one

Age of Empires

February 11th, 2008

Last night, I played some Age of Empires for the first time in quite some time.
I had thought about it recently, but needed something to get me back into it. Ogre surprised me a bit by asking if I had it installed, hinting that he wanted to play it. So a few minutes later, it was installed and we were in the game.
We had a few problems at first, but it was great to play it again. I missed the clubmen

I played some more on my own this afternoon. I am really enjoying it again. The last time I played, a couple of years ago, wasn't so fun because I wasn't feeling too well…

Merry Christmas

December 25th, 2007

I got up at 7AM, and for the first time in years, opened my presents in the morning.
I would have to say that this is the best Christmas I've had in many years.

Here's what I received:

- 3 boxes of chocolates
- Calendar
- Locomotion PC game
- Age of Empires: The Age of Kings for Nintendo DS :o
- CD tub
- Slippers
- 1 tall can of Fuller's London Porter
- $$$

I'm still sleeping at night, although a bit earlier and for longer than I would like. But at least I don't feel too bad.
Dinner went smoothly, since my stomach is better than ever. I remember how bad that had been last year, and it wasn't fun.

Need for Speed: Prostreet

November 18th, 2007

I got Need for Speed: Prostreet on Friday. It was only $34.99.
I'm really enjoying it. There are so many cars for me to cruelly destroy, dozens and dozens of them, and in different ways too

Need for Speed: ProStreet

November 13th, 2007

Last night, I tried out the Need for Speed: ProStreet PC demo. It gave me a chance to test the new gamepad as well.
This is probably the best Need for Speed game in quite some time, and you know I haven't been impressed by the series for a while, not since Need for Speed: High Stakes (NFS 4). So… I might buy this one, but I'm not sure yet

I hooked up Terminator to the Plasma TV this morning. I works, but I'm having some trouble setting up the right resolution. The Intel integrated video doesn't have as many options as a video card would have… I should have known.
I'm starting to regret choosing this motherboard. It pretty much cost me as much now as it would have if I had gotten a better motherboard (ASUS Commando) and separate low end video card :|

I received another box from Amazon.ca today. I ordered these CDs last week:
Crusader – Saxon
Situation – Buck 65
Brand New Day – The Watchmen
Use Your Illusion I – Guns N' Roses

Blazing Angels

September 4th, 2007

Last night, I started playing the Blazing Angels PC game. NCIX.com gave it free with the Intel motherboard as a promotion.
I hadn’t really played any games for a while, so I installed it on Terminator just for the hell of it, but it didn’t run. It seems that it won’t run on Windows Vista. No matter, I installed it on Meteor. It’s much better suited for gaming anyway. It worked fine :w00t:

The game is well done, and I really enjoyed playing it.
The AI is pretty tough, especially the enemy fighter planes, but I still did pretty well, despite playing with the keyboard and mouse.
I’ll have to get myself a new USB gamepad of some sort. My old Gravis gamepads are dinosaurs that plugged into the sound card (MIDI), and I can’t use them with newer machines… :|
