Something a little different and amusing. This is a true story.
Once upon a time, Eric’s parents watched a movie called Jackie Brown on TV. They enjoyed it, but the evil cable company lost their feed to several television stations right in the middle of the movie, leaving them intrigued about how the movie ended. A few days later, while shopping, they saw the DVD on sale. They bought it to be able to watch the rest of the movie. Once they started watching the movie near where the movie was cut off, they realized that something was different… they went back to some different parts towards the beginning of the movie and realized that the version they saw on TV was censored. They liked the censored version better.
Eric then found the DVD with his DVD collection later that night… The End

I caught another cold. It seems that the insomnia I had on Friday was probably related to this virus. Not fun…
The weather has been hot for the past few days, but also very humid, making it feel even hotter. Today’s temperatures got up to 32C /90F, but the “Humidex” adds about ten degrees to that. It has been sunny for the past few days as well. This would have to be the “best” weather so far this summer, and now it’s probably going to go back to raining for another month.
Since I was feeling like buying stuff, I ordered some computer hardware today. I will be posting about that when it arrives. This is not to build another machine, though, so don’t worry.

Well, I didn’t get to go watch trains afterall. I had severe insomnia, and I didn’t even sleep one minute by the time I was to get up, so it was just impossible to go anywhere without sleep.

I caught another cold this weekend. It was a bit bad, especially at first. Runny nose like a faucet again, and sneezing like a machine gun.
And I had such bad insomnia, too. I don’t know what’s going on with that. It usually doesn’t last so long. I did sleep better today, though.
I decided to let my hair grow long, despite protests by my mother… actually that makes it more fun.
I always thought about doing this, but at a certain point I always changed my mind, since my hair became a bit too weird-looking during its transition to a longer style, probably because it’s wavy. But this time, I kept going…
The weather is very nice right now, so I’m hoping that I can get out to watch some trains tomorrow. I haven’t done that so far this summer, because it rained almost all the time. Usually I would have gone in July, but as I said, the weather prevented this.

Well, another birthday has passed. I’m now 28 years old.
The day went fairly well, although I was quite depressed at times. I wasn’t expecting the depression to be so bad, but there’s nothing that I can do about that. It did make me feel better to receive many birthday wishes from my online friends, and even strangers, but I’m still here alone in the end.
I always wonder what my life would be like had I not become so ill many years ago. Maybe I still wouldn’t have been happy with that life, I don’t know. My depression would have followed me no matter what path I took, much like the personal rain cloud from cartoons. I did have quite a bit of bad luck in my life, but things are getting better now, although not as quickly as I would like.
I got up at 3 PM today, which was not too bad. I waited a while to open my presents. I didn’t want to do it while I was very depressed, because I didn’t want my parents to think that I was unhappy about what they gave me. They always do the best they can for me, and the presets were just fine. They gave me some money, DVDs, a game, pajamas, and an LED flashlight.

I had some more trouble with outages for the past couple of days. First, my DSL modem lost sync several times late Thursday night, just like it did about a year ago. This wasn’t too bad, though, since I only lost my connection momentarily as the modem re-synced. Must have been Bell doing some maintenance. Then this morning, a power outage that lasted about 5 minutes, from 10:30AM to 10:35AM or so.
Other than that things haven’t been too bad. I did have a lot of insomnia this week, though. Sleep has often been a problem for me, but it’s been a while since I’ve had so much insomnia so often. Getting up very late some days this week certainly didn’t help, but I was really tired, and I had some depression that I just wanted to sleep off. I didn’t get a chance to do any writing at all this week.

There was a power outage today. I was still sleeping when it occurred, so the noise of everything powering down and things switching to battery power woke me. It started at about 12:57PM, and lasted until just after 1:50PM, so about one hour in total.
This computer (Colossus) only ran for about 30 minutes, its UPS is starting to have less battery time now that it’s getting older. So I had to use my new notebook after I shut Colossus down. I had to reconfigure the router to allow me to use the wireless internet, as it used to be fed by Colossus, and obviously that didn’t work when it was shut down.
I had decided sometime last week to move my DSL modem onto a 100Mbps hub, instead of connecting it directly to the computer, so that I could also use it with my router when needed. This turned out to be perfect timing, since I did in fact need to do just that today. The hub was just sitting in the basement, collecting dust. So why not put it to use?
I might need to make a few more changes to the network, but it’s not much of a problem to just move one cable to bypass a switch, at least for now.

Not much has happened since my last post that could be considered interesting. I caught another cold last week, then went to the dentist on Friday. The dental appointment went okay… no problems.
I did get a reasonable amount of writing done during this time. I’ve been trying to set aside a minimum of one hour a day for the purpose of writing. I’m focusing my efforts on the vampire story. I still have to sort out some of the scenes from the screenplay, as some don’t seem to be in the right position in the story now that I’m writing it in much greater detail. But progress is progress.

I finally edited my video of the flicker eating the patio ants. I had meant to do this since last year, but I didn’t really have any way to post it to the site. So, I just edited it a bit and posted it on Flickr.

It’s an interesting video.
Also, I got another DVD yesterday, Hostage. Another good deal at HMV.

Today, I received another package from Amazon.ca. I got some movies because I was depressed lately, and that can often cause me to want to buy things…
A few of these are sets of a few movies in the same box, so basically there are 13 movies in total. Here’s what I got:
- Midnight Run
- National Security
- Crocodile Dundee Triple Feature
- Van Helsing
- Arnold Schwarzenegger Comedy Favorites Collection:
- Twins
- Kindergarten Cop
- Junior
- Clint Eastwood Comedy: 4 Film Favorites:
- Space Cowboys
- Honkytonk Man
- Every Which Way But Loose
- Any Which Way You Can
Also, my cold is finally getting better now. So I’ll be getting to work on some projects that I’ve been thinking about this week. I did manage to work on one when my symptoms were better the other day. I created a PHP name generator for my stories, and it’s quite interesting to use…
But the names it generates are quite good, actually. I was very clever in my acquisition of the names for its database…
