My Epiphone Prophecy Futura FX has arrived. I almost didn't get it today, since my father decided to get new all season tires for the car, and they had a lot of winter tires to do. He literally answered the phone the moment he walked through the door when he returned from dropping the car off at the garage. So he was probably expecting me to not be too happy about that interfering with getting my guitar. Luckily, it didn't take too long to change the tires, so we were able to get to the music store in time. There was bad traffic on the way there and on the way back as well, and it was past what should be rush hour. It's not the first time that has happened... Traffic is getting bad on the highway now. Ottawa needs another major highway for east to west traffic. The geniuses didn't plan ahead and made all the highways combine into one going through downtown, and that sure isn't sufficient now.
Back to the guitar... Epiphone Prophecy Futura FX. I've waited about 5 months for it, but it was worth it. It's a lot like my old Explorer in shape, but I like the Futura FX more. The Futura's body is pretty much the same, but with an extension near the neck. It has a beautiful translucent black finish, while the neck has awesome blade inlays. It also has EMG pickups, and the Floyd Rose Tremolo.

It's great. It is a bit more complicated with the Floyd Rose and EMG pickups, though. Tuning takes longer because of the locked nut, and the EMG pickups require a 9V battery. I'm not really impressed by the strap locks. I don't think I'll be using them. Actually, I prefer the regular strap button to these. I never have problems with straps falling off, because I always buy good ones with leather ends (Levy's Leathers).
I also bought a Dunlop glass slide that I've wanted for years, but always forgot to get.

I got this a bit unexpectedly from Amazon.ca. I had preordered The Dark Knight, which is to be released on Dec 9th. That and two other movies. I was expecting them to hold it all until then, but they shipped the two other movies on Friday, apparently, so I received them today.
DVDs: - Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (on sale) - 3:10 to Yuma
I've been really tired lately. I guess it's because of the time change, and maybe the season. I got up at 2PM today, the latest I've gotten up this year, I think.
I still made some progress with my writing. I had a few new song ideas, and my screenplays are getting longer. I will have to novelize some of them later.

I have another cold. Yep... again. It started last night.
I received a box from Dell this afternoon...
Yesterday, I ordered a Logitech ClearChat Pro USB headset, and I decided to get a D-Link wireless N router while I was at it, since it was on sale. They arrived today. That was pretty fast!
You might be wondering what the hell I got a headset for, since I would usually avoid such purchases, but I was talked into it...
Now as for the router, I didn't absolutely need it, but I figured that it would be handy to have the wireless with the new tiny notebook. I got a D-Link because I've been satisfied with the Gigabit switch I got last year, which replaced the horrible Linksys EG008W Gigabit switch that failed after just a year and a half of use. Linksys should have recalled that switch, it's not just mine that failed, many did. I'll probably not buy anything from Linksys now, maybe with the exception being network cards and such. We'll see.
Back to the D-Link DIR-615, I set the router up easily enough, and it works fine. I didn't connect it directly to my modem, but it's been able to work with the ICS on Colossus, and that saved me a lot of time by not needing to redo the configuration of port forwarding and such.

Black Ice |

I just got Black Ice by AC/DC. That makes for a total of 11 albums by them. My parents were planning on going to the mall today, so they got it for me.
It's a great album. But it sure did take them a long time to record it... I had already listened to it many times over the weekend, since there were full album previews online. One in particular left 320Kbps MP3 files in the browser cache, which I then copied over to a folder on my desktop to listen to them some more.
I had some trouble with ICQ, I was still using ICQ2003b, which is about 6 years old now... so my database was always in need of repair... and now my contact list started being troublesome as well. So I decided that it was time to give it up and use ICQ 6, which is pretty weird looking... kinda like The Mask. So that also meant that I had to rework some parts of the IM Vault script's database importer. I had an ICQ 6 importer, but it was not quite finished. I had cut a few corners to get it working originally, but then I didn't need it anymore at the time, so I just left it like that. So, I finished it and got rid of all the bugs. Now it works great.
Ogre mentioned that he was looking at some old files on his computer, and that gave me the idea to do the same. I found my old Robby the Microsoft Agent monologue, and it's pretty funny. I must have done it while I was manic. Now I'm working on another one, and this one will be about Olga. It's going very well so far, since I'm now using PHP and MySQL to keep the speech and actions. I might also use this to see how my screenplays will sound, should be fun using the Agent characters.

Cold Continues |

I still have a cold. I was feeling much better on Thrursday and Friday, but it came back on Saturday. I actually fell asleep during the afternoon one day, while still online and some girls were trying to contact me...
Other than that, things were pretty much the same as usual. At least the viruses I've had lately haven't affected my stomach at all. So, last night's Thanksgiving (in Canada) dinner was very good. It couldn't have gone better than that, really. As some of you know, meals on special occasions have given me some trouble in the past. But it was not the case this time, thankfully.
Apparently, the roof will be re-shingled tomorrow. That should be fun... I don't think I'll get to sleep very much with all the hammering and so on.

I've caught another cold, and this one is much worse than those I've had recently. So, I'm suffering more this time. I think in about a month it will be one full year of getting colds on a pretty much biweekly basis. It has to be the worst year ever for viruses, it's not just me.
It's too bad, because I was starting to get pretty good at playing bass these past few days. I even figured out how to play most of the new Danko Jones album.
Apparently, there are problems with ICQ, especially on mobile phones in Russia, which is strange. So, there's some pretty interesting activity (online/offline up and down) on my contact list, since most of my contacts are from there. I get along very well with Eastern European girls, and I like having them contacting me...

New Dell |

Today, I received a package containing a new Dell notebook: an Inspiron Mini 9. My mother wanted it, so I got it for her. So it's not really mine, but I can use it whenever I want. There was a screw up with the order at first, probably due to demand, so it arrived a bit later than originally expected. But that's okay, it's here now. This thing has a dual core Intel Atom CPU running at 1.6Ghz, 1GB of RAM, and an 8GB solid state drive... and it's running Windows XP. It probably won't break any speed records, but it's as quiet as a notebook could possibly be, and it doesn't get very hot. For about the same price as a high end PDA, you get quite a nice little notebook.
There it is... see the full photo to see how it compares to my old Toshiba 16" notebook, Nintendo DS Lite, and such.
I wanted to try out the Wi-Fi, since the Mini 9 can run longer than anything else while on the battery. So I found my antenna for the access point that came built into Meteor's motherboard, and I tried to set that up. It was a nightmare. I did get it working for a while, and actually played Mario Kart DS online at midnight, but it wasn't working anymore after that. I even tried setting it up in virtual machines, since it is attached via USB on the motherboard. Every time I got it working, it just stopped, and there was no way to get it working again. I guess I'll have to get a router or some other access point that would work better if I want to use Wi-Fi. But that will come some other time. I don't really need it that much right now, I have lots of network cables.

I seem to have caught another virus. I've been extremely tired today. I even fell asleep just before dinner, while I was taking a nap. And now I feel like going back to bed again.
I did write quite a bit last week. I worked on a couple of screenplays and a few songs as well. I also managed to play some guitar, and I'm doing pretty well now, despite my low energy levels. I'd be a truly great guitarist if I was healthier.
I haven't read any of my new books yet, but I'm almost through Dracula. After that, I'll probably read something with less pages to start with. I did watch Constantine and The Score this weekend; they're great movies. And Duckman... oh how great it is to finally be able to watch that again...

I received another Amazon.ca order today. I, as well as many others, have been waiting for a few years now to be able to buy Duckman on DVD. The first set, containing seasons 1 & 2 was released yesterday.
I also got a few movies while I was at it, along with one CD; Mothership by Led Zeppelin. I had borrowed my father's Best of Led Zeppelin set, but figured I might as well get my own, since Mothership has a couple of songs I wanted that the other set didn't have. So they changed a few of the tracks, but other than that, it is pretty much the same as the other set, although they moved the tracks around a bit as well. And it was a great deal at $11...
DVD: - Duckman: Seasons 1 & 2 - Constantine - Dracula: Dead and Loving It - Sylvester Stallone: 4 Film Favorites - The Postman - The Score

New CD |

I received a new CD in the mail today. My father brought it in with the mail, and was so surprised that I hadn't mentioned ordering it, that he dropped it on the floor. It was on carpet, so no harm done, but I did give him a look that scared him a bit. So, I finally ordered the one CD that I've been unable to get anywhere, since it's out of print; The Devil You Know by Econoline Crush. It's very strange that it's out of print, it's only from 1998. Anyway, I got it from a merchant on Amazon.com. I've always bought only from the company itself until now. The shipping cost more than the CD itself ($3.35), but it was worth it. It's in perfect condition, and I wanted it...
